Para garantir a cessão do Jardim Botânico, equipamento com prejuízo anual de R$ 4 milhões e somente 270 mil visitantes por ano, o governador João Doria (PSDB) vai conceder à iniciativa privada o Zoológico de São Paulo, o Zoo Safari e o Jardim Botânico. A notícia foi divulgada no sábado (6) pelo governador que pretende ouvir o mercado para fazer o modelo para a concessão de 35 anos e publicar o edital em fevereiro de 2020.
“Por isso colocamos o Jardim Botânico com o Zoológico. Isso permite um manejo dessa operação, para que ambos possam ser bem administrados e bem geridos. E a modelagem estando de pé teremos propostas”, disse João Doria.
O governo ainda não definiu se o modelo adotado será o valor de outorga, mas sugere investimento mínimo de R$ 60 milhões. De acordo com a Gestão Doria, o zoológico é lucrativo, mas o Jardim Botânico não, e o déficit anual reunindo todos os parques é de R$ 4 milhões.
A gestão pretende com a concessão melhorar a infraestrutura e serviços do parque e destinar a verba que é usada para a manutenção para outras áreas mais prioritárias.
Ainda segundo o governo, a parte de pesquisa feita com as planas e animais ficará sob gestão do estado com o incentivo da iniciativa privada. A inspiração é o modelo implantado no Parque Nacional de Iguaçu, no Paraná.
