Continuando minha pesquisa por passeios, decidi conhecer o Templo Zu Lai, localizado em Cotia, com acesso pelo km 28,5 da Rodovia Raposo Tavares. Pertencente a ordem Fo Guang Shan, de Taiwan, foi inaugurado em 2003. Apesar de ser muito conhecido por ser o maior templo budista da América Latina, nunca tinha ido ao lugar e ao procurar paz interior e tranquilidade, achei que lá seria ideal. Meu acerto foi de 50%.
Digo metade, porque o excesso de turistas que não respeitam as regras tornam o lugar barulhento e inapropriado para práticas espirituais. Observar a arquitetura oriental e as diversas esculturas espalhadas por lá é difícil sem sair na foto de alguém. Ainda assim a arte e cultura é de encher os olhos e encanta não só os praticantes, mas qualquer um que queira saber mais sobre a religião milenar.
Aconselho a visita ao templo durante a semana, pois deve ser menos movimentado e assim é possível se conectar mais facilmente com a natureza. Faz parte do complexo também um lago e um bosque, onde se é possível relaxar e observar os peixes e tartarugas.
Aos domingos, há uma série de atividades gratuitas que ajudam a entender um pouco mais da prática oriental. Cheguei por volta das 11h e por isso assisti somente uma parte da cerimônia principal, que começa as 10h. Cheguem cedo para garantir lugar dentro do templo e participar do ritual. Às 15h, há uma meditação para iniciantes guiada por um discípulo, onde são ensinados os fundamentos básicos da meditação e alongamentos para se fazer antes. Depois o público é convidado a meditar durante 20 minutos e para encerrar, abre-se para perguntas.
Para quem nunca havia meditado de verdade como eu, confesso que essa é uma experiência inesquecível e que com certeza me modificou. O horário de visitação é de terça-feira à sexta-feira, das 12h às 17h, sábados, domingos e feriados, das 9h30 às 17h, e às segundas-feiras é sempre fechado, mesmo se for feriado. A entrada é gratuita e possui estacionamento no local. Para quem quiser passar o dia, o santuário possui um café e um restaurante. Estrada Municipal Fernando Nobre, 1461.
