A disputa nos bastidores entre São Paulo e Rio para receber o GP do Brasil de Fórmula 1 teve nova etapa nesta semana, mas o desfecho parece longe do fim.A definição de qual cidade será sede do GP do Brasil a partir de 2021 só deve sair no fim do ano. Os organizadores da principal categoria do automobilismo mundial mantiveram reuniões com o presidente Jair Bolsonaro, o governador do Rio, Wilson Witzel, o governador de São Paulo, João Doria, e o prefeito Bruno Covas.
Bolsonaro se apressou ao afirmar que as chances de o GP ir para o Rio são de “99% ou mais”. O Rio possui um projeto em andamento para construir um autódromo cujo custo é de cerca de R$ 700 milhões e, assim, acabou por se tornar uma concorrência para São Paulo.
São Paulo, no entanto, tem contrato com a principal categoria de automobilismo do mundo até o próximo ano e vem intensificando as negociações para a renovação desde o início do ano. Enquanto isso, os promotores da F-1 levam as negociações em “banho-maria” e alegam que ainda avaliam todas as possibilidades no Brasil. Ou seja, quem apresentar a melhor oferta ganhará a disputa.
O que é preciso deixar claro é que não se trata de uma disputa política ou eleitoral. Estamos falando de um negócio altamente lucrativo, que envolve inclusive a geração de empregos diretos e indiretos. Enquanto São Paulo conta com o autódromo de Interlagos, o Rio possui, por enquanto, apenas a licitação de uma futura pista.
Entre os obstáculos para o Rio acertar um eventual retorno da F-1 à cidade está o pagamento do circuito. Todo o custo seria bancado pela iniciativa privada, mas os investidores não foram divulgados. Sem contar que um circuito de F-1 demora, em média, ao menos dois anos para ser construído e as obras no Rio ainda não começaram.
Vale lembrar ainda que o GP do Brasil de Fórmula 1 é disputado em São Paulo desde 1990. Entre as décadas de 70 e 80, o Rio chegou a receber dez edições da corrida no autódromo localizado em Jacarepaguá, demolido para a construção do Parque Olímpico, utilizado nos Jogos Rio-2016.
Outro ponto de interrogação nessa história envolve o empresário José Antonio Soares Pereira Júnior, que está à frente do projeto que pretende levar a F-1 para o Rio. De acordo com reportagem publicada pelo jornal Folha de S.Paulo na quarta-feira (26), ele presidiu uma empresa que faliu e deve R$ 24,7 milhões para a União. O empresário, inclusive, já foi citado em investigações sobre o Mensalão e da Operação Lava Jato. Ele, porém, não foi indiciado em nenhum dos casos. Ainda de acordo com a reportagem, a massa falida da empresa presidida por Júnior tem 20 ações trabalhistas e ele está inscrito na Dívida Ativa da União com débito de R$ 85,5 mil como pessoa física.
