Tudo levava a crer que a anexação ao Parque Independência de um terreno de 26.5 mil metros quadrados, entre as ruas Bom Pastor e dos Sorocabanos, enfim sairia do papel. A luta de mais de 20 anos de lideranças do bairro parecia ter terminado, no dia 5 de maio, quando o prefeito Bruno Covas (PSDB) assinou o contrato da obra de ampliação da maior área verde da região.
A subprefeitura Ipiranga se engalanou para receber a comitiva do prefeito e, no ato cívico, ocorrido na manhã de um domingo, o secretário municipal do Verde e do Meio Ambiente, Eduardo de Castro, abriu os discursos. Prometeu que, “na segunda (6) ou terça-feira (7), as máquinas já estarão em ação, preparando a área para as benfeitorias”. Acrescentou que o dinheiro para a realização da primeira fase da obra (R$ 1.6 milhão) foi obtido junto ao Fundo Especial do Meio Ambiente e Desenvolvimento Sustentável (FEMA).
Dois meses e meio se passaram e as máquinas não apareceram no Parque Independência. Um guarda da Casa do Grito, que fica próxima à entrada do terreno, disse que pessoas ligadas à Prefeitura estiveram no local, catalogaram as espécies ali existentes, analisaram a topografia do terreno e foram embora. “Faz muito tempo que vieram”, ele comentou.
Uma espécie de guardião da maior área de lazer da região e principal liderança na batalha pela anexação dos 26.5 mil metros quadrados, o advogado Valdir Abdallah não se surpreendeu com o não cumprimento da promessa pelo secretário Castro. “O poder público é lento, muitas vezes omisso, e cabe a nós, cidadãos, acompanhar de perto qualquer obra, para que as coisas aconteçam”, ele propõe. “As coisas estão tão morosas que nos dão um desgaste muito grande”, lamentou o ipiranguista.
A previsão era de que os trabalhos estivessem concluídos em oito meses, mas dois meses e meio já estão perdidos. A secretaria do Verde e do Meio Ambiente não respondeu às perguntas enviadas pelo Ipiranga News.
