Morreu nesta segunda-feira (8), Rita Lee, conhecida também como a rainha do rock brasileiro. Ela lutava contra um câncer de pulmão diagnosticado em 2021 e vinha fazendo tratamentos.
O velório acontecerá no Plenário do Parque Ibirapuera, na quarta-feira (10), das 10 às 17h, e será aberto ao público.
Nas redes sociais da cantora e compositora, a família divulgou o seguinte comunicado: “Comunicamos o falecimento de Rita Lee, em sua residência, em São Paulo, capital, no final da noite de ontem, cercada de todo o amor de sua família, como sempre desejou”.
Uma das maiores vozes do Brasil, Lee foi a dona de composições que fazem sucesso até hoje e acumulou milhares de fãs das mais variadas idades durante os quase 60 anos de carreira nos quais ela foi referência de criatividade e independência feminina.
Foi ela quem ajudou a incorporar a revolução do rock à explosão criativa do tropicalismo e formou a banda aclamada e mais cultuada do mundo Os Mutantes.
Filha do dentista e filho de imigrantes dos EUA, Charles Jones, e da pianista italiana Romilda Padula, Rita Lee Jones nasceu em São Paulo, em 31 de dezembro de 1967 e foi incentivada pela genitora a estudar o instrumento tocado pela mãe e a cantar com as irmãs.
Nos últimos anos, Rita morava com a família em um sítio no interior de São Paulo. Ela deixa três filhos: Roberto, João e Antonio.
