O atendimento à população em situação de rua tem sido intensificado com a chegada das baixas temperaturas. A ação segue até o dia 30 de setembro e será reforçada sempre que a temperatura atingir o patamar igual ou inferior a 13º, ou sensação térmica equivalente. A ação recebeu o nome de “Plano de Contingência para Situações de Baixas Temperaturas – 2018”.
De acordo com a Prefeitura de São Paulo o objetivo é zelar pela segurança e bem-estar da população em situação de rua, promovendo o acolhimento de crianças, adolescentes e adultos durante os meses mais frios do ano. A cidade conta com 135 Serviços de Acolhimento Institucional para Crianças e Adolescentes (SAICAs), que juntas disponibilizam 2.570 vagas. Duas casas estão na região. O Centro de Acolhida Estação Bem-Estar, no Ipiranga e o Centro de Acolhida Solidariedade – Abecal no Jabaquara.
Nos meses mais frios do ano a procura por abrigo aumenta cerca de 40%. E quando o frio aperta também faltam camas e cobertores nos chamados albergues. Muitas pessoas chegam ao espaço por meio de acolhimento nas praças e ruas. O trabalho é feito pela equipe de assistência social da Prefeitura e ganha mais atenção dos agentes nesta época. Restaurar a confiança e os vínculos familiares de quem está nas ruas é um desafio que leva tempo.
Maria de Fátima, hoje está recuperada do vício, mas ainda vive nas ruas e tenta refazer a vida que abandonou há anos por causa das drogas. “O albergue é o lugar mais seguro e quentinho que encontramos nesta época do ano”, relata.
Os Centro de Acolhidas atendem mais de 100 pessoas por dia e funcionam 24 horas. Para a pernoite os atendidos são orientados a chegar cedo ao local. Por volta das 16h já é possível ver fila sendo formada em frente à instituição, na avenida presidente Tancredo Neves, 270. E na Avenida Engenheiro Armando de Arruda Pereira, 1392.
As pessoas em situação de rua também podem procurar os serviços de acolhimento espontaneamente. Caso o serviço procurado já tenha a sua ocupação total preenchida, os profissionais que atuam nos serviços deverão prestar o primeiro atendimento, protegendo-os do frio enquanto articulam uma vaga na rede de acolhimento com os CREAS e Centros POP (das 8h às 18h), ou com CPAS (das 18h às 8h).
