O prefeito João Doria (PSDB) promete cumprir uma de suas promessas de campanha: tirar a gestão do Parque da Independência do poder público para entregá-la na mão de empresários. O projeto já foi aprovado na Câmara dos Vereadores com apoio dos parlamentares da base governista e o edital deverá sair até novembro.
O cenário é de muitas incertezas. O Parque abriga a Casa do Grito, a Cripta Imperial, o Museu do Ipiranga e o Monumento à Independência. É o símbolo maior do bairro, mas ninguém sabe ao certo qual será o seu futuro.
A promessa de João Doria é de que a concessão do Parque da Independência para a iniciativa privada vai aliviar os cofres públicos em aproximadamente 40% do orçamento atual destinado ao espaço e ainda vai melhorar os serviços à população. A pergunta que todos os moradores do bairro fazem é: “Onde será aplicado o dinheiro a ser economizado?”
Como amigo do bairro há duas décadas, o Ipiranga News dedica esse Caderno Especial de Aniversário do Ipiranga em defesa ao Parque da Independência. Os interesses e o bem estar da população têm de estar acima de tudo, independentemente de qualquer coisa. Um parque como o da Independência não deve gerar lucros, e sim servir para o lazer e entretenimento à população, que paga impostos esperando receber em troca beneficíos, como o lazer.
Por isso, o Ipiranga News se coloca como “fiscal do povo” e acompanha desde maio com rigor todo e qualquer passo desta possível concessão do Parque da Independência ao empresariado. Nenhum desvio ou atitude equivocada será tolerada. Estamos de Olho.
