O Tatu é um animal brasileiro ameaçado de extinção muito encontrado no nordeste. Sua especialidade é cavar. Em São Paulo, graças as obras do Metrô, ele ganhou um aumentativo e passou a ser conhecido como Tatuzão. Pois bem, é o Tatuzão, fabricado na China, antes chamado de tuneladora tipo “Shield” que vai trabalhar na expansão da Linha 2-Verde. Ele será fabricado pela empresa China Railway Engineering Equipament Group Co. – CREG e foi adquirido pelo Consórcio Linha 2 Verde, contratado pelo Metrô.
Com 100 metros de comprimento, com roda de corte de 11,65 metros de diâmetro – maior que as rodas de corte usadas recentemente pelo Metrô nas linhas 4-Amarela e 5-Lilás. O tamanho da roda de corte determina a medida do túnel que será construído, que vai ter cerca de 12m de diâmetro ao longo dos cerca de 8 km de extensão entre o VSE Falchi Gianini (após a estação Vila Prudente) e a Estação Penha.
Além da roda de corte que fica na frente da máquina, o shield conta com uma estrutura de apoio para movimentá-lo, instalar os anéis de concreto que revestem os túneis e também para a remoção de terra escavada, com rolamento e uma rosca sem fim, que ajuda a levar materiais. Ao todo, essa estrutura chega ao peso de quase 500 toneladas!
O Tatuzão começará a trabalhar no canteiro de obras do complexo Rapadura, entre as futuras estações Vila Formosa e Santa Isabel em meados de 2023. As escavações acontecem no local para poder receber a máquina que vai partir com direção ao Poço Falchi Gianini, entre as estações Vila Prudente (já em operação) e Orfanato, que é a primeira do novo trecho. Depois ele vai escavar o trecho entre o complexo Rapadura e a Penha no outro sentido.
