Uma igreja cheia de amigos com a presença dos dois últimos párocos da comunidade, além da presença de Dom José Roberto Fortes Palau, bispo-auxiliar da Arquidiocese de São Paulo e Vigário Episcopal da Região Episcopal Ipiranga. Esse foi o cenário da missa de posse do padre Israel Mendes Pereira como pároco da paróquia de Santa Paulina no Heliópolis, a maior comunidade de São Paulo. A celebração foi presidida por Dom José Roberto Palau.
Padre Israel é o terceiro pároco diocesano da comunidade, que já foi cuidada pelos Oblatos de São José, pelos Missionários Xaverianos e pelo Instituto Missionário Consolata. Seguindo as normas litúrgicas e canônicas, padre Israel renovou sua fé também as suas promessas sacerdotais.
Na missa, Dom José lembrou que um padre deve ter um triplo olhar, o primeiro deles deve ser para Jesus Cristo, “lembrando da maneira contemplativa de Pedro ao estar diante do Transfigurado, assim também deve ser o padre”, afirmou.
O segundo olhar do padre deve estar voltado para o povo, para a comunidade. “O sacerdote deve ser incansável no cuidado pastoral de seus paroquianos”, disse. Já o terceiro olhar deve ser para o mundo, “a comunidade deve ser sal e luz na porção em que está, e o padre deve ajudar a paróquia a levar Jesus Cristo para outras realidades do território paroquial”, completou.
Em seu agradecimento, padre Israel louvou a Deus pela oportunidade de ser pároco em Santa Paulina, agradeceu também a confiança de Dom José Roberto, a amizade dos padres, a presença dos amigos e da família e as orações de sua nova comunidade paroquial. A mãe, irmãos e sobrinhos do padre Israel também estiveram na celebração e foram acolhidos de maneira afetuosa pelos presentes. “Estou feliz e sei da responsabilidade de estar a frente de uma paróquia localizada na maior comunidade de São Paulo. Quero caminhar junto ao povo”, relatou.
Padre Israel Mendes Pereira foi ordenado sacerdote por Dom Odilo Pedro Scherer em dezembro de 2011, já serviu na Região Episcopal Brasilândia e atualmente é Capelão da Fundação Nossa Senhora Auxiliador a promotor vocacional na Região Episcopal Ipiranga, antes do ofício de pároco, era vigário paroquial na Paróquia Imaculada Conceição.
