Exposição no Sesc Ipiranga celebra a arte popular das letras e filetes da América Latina
O Sesc Ipiranga recebe a exposição Letras & Filetes: Memória Afetiva e Latinidades, que celebra o universo das letras pintadas à mão e das artes gráficas populares do Brasil e de diversos países da América Latina. A mostra, idealizada por Filipe Grimaldi em parceria com Thiago Nevs e produção de Carolina Herszenhut, segue em cartaz até 5 de abril de 2026.
Reunindo obras de cerca de 60 artistas, a exposição convida o visitante a um mergulho na cultura visual popular, revelando como o gesto manual e a inventividade transformaram letras, cartazes, ornamentos e filetes em expressões de identidade, pertencimento e memória coletiva. A mostra homenageia cartazistas, abridores de letras, letristas e mestres filetadores que, com criatividade e cor, transformaram fachadas, caminhões e embarcações em verdadeiras obras de arte.
Organizada em núcleos temáticos, Letras & Filetes apresenta a diversidade de estilos da letra popular brasileira e suas conexões com outras tradições latino-americanas. O público poderá conhecer desde as letras decorativas amazônicas, presentes nos barcos ribeirinhos, até os cartazes de mercado e os filetes que ornamentam caminhões pelo país, em diálogo com manifestações como o fileteado portenho argentino, a rotulación mexicana e a letra chicha peruana.
Segundo Filipe Grimaldi, a mostra evidencia como essas expressões compartilham traços de ornamentação, espontaneidade e vínculo com o cotidiano, compondo uma verdadeira rede de latinidades gráficas que revela modos comuns de criar e resistir.
O acervo conta com fotografias do Instituto Moreira Salles e de Stefania Bril, além de obras inéditas de mestres filetadores, uma charrete filetada por Paulinho Mazuco e o filme As Cartazistas, de Clara Izabela, que valoriza a presença feminina nesse universo. O espaço dedicado às Latinidades traz obras de artistas da Argentina, Chile, Colômbia, México e Peru, ampliando o diálogo continental.
A exposição também lança uma publicação que reúne textos dos pesquisadores Nicole Castro e Rafael Hoffmann, além da Cartilha do Letrista, criada por Grimaldi, com dicas práticas sobre técnicas e materiais utilizados por letristas brasileiros.
Com entrada gratuita e recursos de acessibilidade, Letras & Filetes: Memória Afetiva e Latinidades reafirma o valor da arte popular e da manualidade como expressões fundamentais da identidade cultural latino-americana.
