O governo do estado de São Paulo publicou na sexta-feira (7) o edital para a concessão do Zoológico, Zoo Safari e Jardim Botânico. O valor do contrato é de R$ 417,5 milhões. O investimento mínimo estabelecido para o ganhador da concorrência internacional, prevista para ocorrer no dia 21 de janeiro de 2021, deverá ser de R$ 263,8 milhões, sendo R$ 180,37 milhões nos cinco primeiros anos da assinatura do acordo.Os parques são administrados pela Secretaria de Infraestrutura e Meio Ambiente e o projeto prevê investimentos da iniciativa privada, que será responsável pela conservação, manutenção e operação. No caso do Zoológico, a empresa vencedora terá de promover maior imersão na natureza e recintos visando o bem-estar animal.
Já no Jardim Botânico, o edital prevê a implantação de programas de educação ambiental, novos espaços de lazer e alimentação, maior acessibilidade, além de apoio para atividades de pesquisa. Pelo edital, também deverá ser concedido ingressos gratuitos para crianças com até 4 anos de idade (atualmente a gratuidade é até os cinco anos); estudantes e respectivos professores da educação infantil, ensino fundamental e médio da rede pública de ensino, ao menos dois dias úteis por semana, quando em passeio escolar; pessoas com deficiência e pesquisadores em trabalho, durante realização de Pesquisa Ativa na área. Durante a concessão, de 30 anos, as pesquisas e a proteção das espécies ameaçadas de extinção continuarão sob a responsabilidade do governo.
Em março desde ano, o governo abriu consulta pública para receber informações e contribuições. Por conta da pandemia de coronavírus, a audiência pública sobre o projeto ocorreu virtualmente no dia 29 de maio. Segundo o governo, entre março e julho, 365 contribuições foram recebidas e analisadas.
