O setor de investigações do 91º DP (Vila Leopoldina) localizou e interrompeu na tarde de quinta-feira (3) as atividades de uma fábrica de moedas falsas na Vila Moraes, na Saúde. Cinco suspeitos foram presos e indiciados em flagrante por falsificação de dinheiro e formação de quadrilha. O bando produzia moedas falsas de R$ 1, que eram, segundo a polícia, colocadas em circulação em comércios.
Segundo o delegado titular Elder Leal, as investigações duraram cerca de seis meses. “Durante este tempo, foram realizadas campanas e o acompanhamento dos suspeitos para identificar o local onde atuavam”, disse. Ele acrescentou que as moedas são parecidas com as originais. “O que ajuda a identificar que são falsas são arranhaduras laterais e também uma leve diferença no desenho (efígie da república)”, disse. A polícia investiga quem seriam os “clientes” do bando. A quantidade de moedas produzidas ainda não foi apontada.
A equipe de investigações do 91º DP acompanhou diariamente a movimentação de um Fiat Linea cinza e de uma caminhonete Fiorino branca. Identificaram pontos de atuação da quadrilha e prenderam quatro suspeitos em um imóvel na rua Lorenzo da Viterbo, onde havia uma prensa, uma máquina de corte e material usado para a falsificação das moedas. Instantes depois, policiais prenderam um gráfico de 43 anos, que teria confessado integrar o bando de falsificadores.
