Dois alunos dos Colégios Maristas Arquidiocesano e Glória serão selecionados para participar do programa Mentoring and Language Acquisition in Brazil (MLAB), promovido pela Universidade Harvard, uma das mais importantes instituições de ensino superior do mundo. A atividade faz parte de uma cooperação entre Harvard e a Internacionalização do Marista Brasil.
Harvard criou o programa para propiciar aos alunos de graduação da Universidade americana, experiências internacionais significativas no Brasil. O MLAB tem por objetivo capacitar alunos do Ensino Médio desenvolvendo sua confiança, pensamento crítico e habilidades na língua inglesa por meio de mentores individuais. Organizado pelo escritório de Harvard no Brasil, constitui uma parceria, em que alunos brasileiros são mentorados por estudantes da Universidade Harvard. Cada aluno tem seu mentor e a comunicação ocorre por videoconferência durante cinco meses. Porém, está prevista uma imersão no início de 2024, em que os estudantes brasileiros e seus mentores se encontrarão pessoalmente.
De acordo com a assessora de Internacionalização da Regional São Paulo do Marista Brasil, Leonina Loback, essa mentoria ocorre para que haja um contato entre realidades diferentes, visando o aperfeiçoamento da língua inglesa. “Ela atua como um laço que une os estudantes, criando um vínculo que pode durar anos. O programa oferece experiências positivas e enriquecedoras para os jovens aprenderem com colegas mais experientes a explorarem interesses comuns. Os mentores estrangeiros têm a oportunidade de se envolver com o Brasil, aprender e se conectar com os brasileiros, explorando habilidades de mentoria e conhecendo mais profundamente a nossa cultura”, afirma a assessora.
